Dear Teachers, Students, and Parents,

Welcome! Are you ready to read our cool adventures? We can’t wait to write to you! Mr. Frazzlehead, the owner of our pet shop located in the mall, thinks he has a group of ordinary pets. He doesn’t know that we are actually the Pet Shop Pen Pals! When the store closes, we hop out of our cages and do the same things kids do - everything from learning to ride a bike to putting on a talent show. We have so much fun that we love writing and telling kids all about it!

At this time, three of us know how to write: Benny the Hamster, Roxanne the Cat, and me, Max the Dog. We are teaching the other pets to write. Maybe someday they can write you, too! You can check out the rest of our gang where it says, “Meet the Pets.”

For now, Benny, Roxanne, or I will send a three-page letter every week from October to March for everyone to read at www.ReadersAreWinners.org. I don’t think we could ever remember everyone’s home address! We have also added a Parents Paws for Reading page for Moms and Dads. It has questions for them to ask to see if everyone paid attention while reading our letter.

We are really glad that we can share our adventures with you. I know we are going to become great friends.
